We love a bridal accessory here at our Essex Boutique and we want to help our lovely brides know the best way to accessorise their gown. We always use a range of different accessories during your appointment to make sure you get the most from your consultation. Sometimes a little accessory can make all the difference and help a bride say yes to the dress!

Bridal belts are a wonderful way to add a little something to your gown. Whether you want to add a little sparkle or use it to draw the eye to the waist, it can be the perfect touch. There are a huge range of bridal belts. There are ones with smaller beaded appliques to just have in the middle or larger beaded appliques that continue round the side and even the back of the gown. Some will have more subtle sparkle for the bride who just wants a hint of glitter and others are more heavily embellished for the bride who wants their belt to stand out. Below are just a few examples of the different belts we stock, where you can see the different styles.

Veils are such a wonderful finishing touch to any gown and many brides feel a veil just completes their look. From birdcage to cathedral length, there is something for every bride to compliment the gown perfectly. Here is a list of the different styles:

  • Birdcage: Birdcage veils are usually made from fishnet tulle and only cover part of the face. They are normally attached to a comb which then slides into the hair to secure it in place. Perfect if you’re going for a vintage feel!
  • Elbow: Elbow length veils will sit at around your elbow and can come in lots of different styles. There are beaded, lace or sparkly edging, ones with scattered embellishment or lace and either one or two tiers. One tier will frame the body and two tier will sit around your shoulders at the front, framing the face. The shorter tier can also be worn over the face.
  • Fingertip: Fingertip veils will sit at the length to your fingertips, when your hands are placed by your side. They can have the same variations as elbow length.
  • Chapel: Chapel veils will come out about 6-12 inches behind your train, or if your train is long, will sit on top of it. They then move beautifully with your gown as you walk.
  • Cathedral: These veils are extremely long and will trail behind your gown, framing your train. This is for the bride who wants to make a statement! A cathedral length veil gives a royal touch to any gown.

If you’re going for a gown with a show stopping low back, then some back jewellery can really create the wow factor. This is normally fastened into the gown just using a little clip (ask your seamstress to sew in a couple of little loops inside your gown). It is a really simple but beautiful touch and if you’re a bride who feels a little conscious of having so much skin on show, it can make you feel a little more secure.
